Project 365-ish: May 12, 2013
Catalpa Still Life Pinhole
cookie box pinhole camera, paper negative, 15-minute exposure, developed in Caffenol-C, colorized in Photoshop.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there! (-:
We have a Catalpa tree in our backyard. It's also called a "cigar tree", because of the long, bean-like fruit that comes after the spring bloom. It's a pity to call this tree a cigar tree, when it produces the most beautiful looking and smelling blooms!
It's blooming right now, so I am making and taking many images, while I spend time with the tree in the mornings.
The cookiebox camera was made quite a few years ago, but since it takes 8x7-inch negatives, so I haven't used it much. (I also used it during my instant film pinhole experiments a few years ago) Today pieced together 2 5x7 paper negatives to make the image.
The exposure was not long enough, and the negative was very thin. This is Photoshoped extensively, and a bit contrasty, but I like it. I like to think of it as sorta rustic. (-:
